TOMORROW Thu Sep 28 – Home Football vs. Haverford & Band Senior Night

Tomorrow is our annual Band Senior Night, we’ll be back at home against Haverford. Band/Guard seniors and their parents will be announced prior to the game. Senior families please mark your calendars and plan to be at the game by 6pm. Note that the game is on a THURSDAY.

Students should be ready to begin warming up at 5:30pm. Senior Parents should report for senior acknowledgement at 6pm. Prior to the game we will introduce each of the seniors accompanied by their parents.

The GV athletic director typically allots 10 minutes for our senior introductions, we have over 30 seniors to honor. Here is the schedule:
6:10pm – Senior Parents report to front of band section of home bleachers – please do not be late!
6:15pm – Seniors & Parents line up on track in alphabetical order, flowers distributed
6:40pm – Football teams leave field, band introductions begin
6:50pm – Band introductions must be completed

As they are called, Seniors & Parents will process from the far sideline to the center of field to pose for a photo, then move to home sideline to be greeted by Mr. Selfridge.

If anyone can help take photos of the pregame ceremonies please contact Bill Waldron at

Florida Trip Attendee List Posted

We have exactly 2 full buses of students signed up for the Florida trip. We also have 3 students on the waiting list in case someone drops out. Deposits are not refundable, but since we have students on the waiting list anyone who drops out in the near future will get a refund of their deposit.

The full travel attendee list is posted at Please check to see if your student is on the list – if you expect to see your student’s name and don’t please email

Mon Oct 2 – Joe Corbi’s Fundraiser Delivery

Delivery of our Joe Corbi’s fundraiser items will be on Mon Oct 2. The truck will arrive at 4pm, volunteers are needed to help sort the items. Items will be ready for pickup at 5pm (when you drop your student off for practice).

Please note that we have no available freezer space, so orders must be picked up that day by the end of practice.

Wed Oct 4 – Indoor Drumline Interest Meeting

Indoor Drumline starts in less than 7 weeks, and any student can be a part of it! All musicians are welcome to tryout for Garnet Valley Percussion, our award-winning Indoor Drumline. If you think that percussion might be fun (it is), please stay after band practice on Wed Oct 4 to find out more.

Any GV student can tryout to join the Drumline – prior percussion experience is not required. Many students who play woodwinds or brass instruments have picked up a drum, cymbals, or a pit instrument and had a great time participating in this highly competitive marching percussion activity. We’re always looking for good musicians of all instruments, if you can read music we can teach you what you need to know. Check out our YouTube channel ( for videos from previous Drumline shows to see what’s involved.

Garnet Valley Percussion will compete in various competitions from February through the first week of May. Practices start with tryouts in early November, and continue on Mondays, Thursdays & most Saturdays until championships in Wildwood in early May.

If you have any questions please email GVP Director Christina Cento at
